Heroes of the storm
Ah, yes. Heroes of the Storm. The crowning jewel of my online 'career'. This little moba/hero brawler is what seated my partnership with Twitch.
In this game, you select a hero from the various Blizzard franchises (Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, and some of their Misc games) and duel it out in 5v5 combat on various maps containing various objectives.
I've played HOTS for coming up on three years now, and have seen it's many ups and downs. The game is a nice, simpler approach to the MOBA genre to those who are curious about it, but find games like League of Legends and Dota's mechanics too punishing/hard to learn.
Your team gains experience together, there's no gold or item shops, etc, so you can focus on two things: Murdering your enemies mercilessly, and completing map objectives.
Map objectives are the main thing that make HOTS stand out from the pack. Every map has a primary goal to achieve, that helps push your team towards destroying the enemies core. For example, on the map called Cursed Hollow, you collect three raven tributes that then curse the enemy team, shutting all their defensive structures down and reducing all their minions HP bars to 1. So you literally insta-kill them. You can imagine the chaos.
The game has felt to me and many others as though its overrall playerbase has been dwindling for some time now, queue times are fairly lengthy for many players, matchmaking is widely accepted as poorly done, a majority of the community seems to be fairly toxic but, you can always play unranked quick match with a group of friends and have a great time.
And hey, the games free! So check it out! Download Blizzard's Battle.net launcher (If you play literally any Blizzard game, you probably already have it) and download Heroes of the Storm for free and try it out!
Personal enjoyment: 6.5/10 (lol)
Frequency of Play: Often (I stream this primarily)
